- Born and raised in LA, the city where there are literally more registered cars than people, I know what it means to have your life centered around cars and driving. I’ve slept overnight in enough cars to tell you which ones are most comfortable (the back seat of a 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix is better than posturepedic), I’ve made the thirteen hour journey up the full length of California more than once, and I’ve held up a sign on the side of the road in a strange town desperately asking passing motorists for money to replace a snapped serpentine belt. I’m a big believer in DIY car maintenance. I’m told that some otherwise intelligent people pay money to have their oil changed for them, but I prefer to think it’s just an urban legend.
