- There’s nothing like being from Detroit. D-Town, Hockeytown, The Motor City. I’m proud to say I grew up in the city that started it all, the city that built the cars which have taken us where our wildest dreams had only imagined before. Living near the old Ford estate, I would drive down the lake shore on summer nights past the mansion – windows down, music turned up, fresh-water breeze blowing my hair, old streetlamps popping on one at a time as I drove past – and I would take in the history of the town I called home. Here is where innovation began and the future was defined. A man built a car, and changed the world. In the heart of the city you’ll find GM’s headquarters, looming high and mighty above the Detroit river. Drive further north, and the titans of Chrysler will greet you from the side of I-75. It’s not just an industry to us – it’s in our blood and our bones. And if you couldn’t tell already… you can take the girl out of The Motor City, but you can never take The Motor City out of the girl.
